Whew! Hailey just went to sleep. What a long day... We arrived at UW Childrens' Hospital at 9:30am. She was able to get the MRI of her brain and spine at 2:30pm. The last time she drank any water was 5:00am. She is such a trooper!

The MRI of her spine came back fine. Her brain biopsy was moved-up to tomorrow. We're still not sure of the time because they are trying to arrange for a surgeon to place her permanent port while she's under general anesthetic. At some point, she'll receive her chemotherapy through that port. It will be under her skin so she can still go swimming and take baths with no problems.

While Hailey was having her MRI, we checked into the Ronald McDonald House. That place is really a blessing and the staff are incredibly nice. Grandma and Grandpa Boldt and Grandma Meltz are staying there tonight. Tommorrw the rest of the family will arrive, including big sister Faith!

I wanted to thank everyone again for your kind thoughts and prayers. Each day Brian and I review the new entries in the guest book. We truly treasure all of the support.

Good Night!

This one deserves a seperate entry...

We would like to thank Dr. John Edwards (Hailey and Faith's pediatrician in Appleton) for the work he and his staff (and even his wife) have done on our family's behalf this last week. He was the person who had the horrible job of breaking the news to us last Wednesday, but he has not left our side since. We cannot say enough about the compassion he has shown us and the effort he has put in to set up appointments for us, answer questions, give us advice and support, and help guide us through this nightmare. We will never forget what he has done for our family. We've of course told him and will keep telling him how much his support has meant, but we felt it was important for all of you to know what a blessing he has been for us. He is truly a great man.

Another long day in the books.

We went to Madison today with Hailey for the start of her eye tests with the opthamologist at UW, Dr. Struck. Long story short, her vision does not appear to be affected at this point. More tests will be done early next week at UW prior to her biopsy on Wed and if this is the kind of tumor we fear it is, we will get to know Dr. Struck all too well over the coming years.

Monday and the rest of next week is big for our family. After next week we will know the exact type of tumor we are dealing with and then begin to work with Dr. Iskandar and the team at UW to put the treatment plan in place to beat this thing! Please pray for a successful procedure WITH NO COMPLICATIONS for Hailey, and for Hailey and our family to find peace and comfort as we go through what will be a difficult week.

As Shannon and I read our guestbook and take countless emails and phone calls from people praying for Hailey and our family, we find ourselves blown away by the love and support we have received. We just needed to let you all know how much you mean to us and how completely overwhelmed (in a good way) and strengthened we are by your thoughts and concerns. We will never be able to fully express what your love and prayers have meant and will mean in the difficult times ahead. The toughest days are likely yet to come, but we do not feel alone and we are more determined than ever to fight for our little girl and her sister Faith. We love you all! Thank you. We will be checking our guestbook often and updating this site almost daily. Stay tuned....
